Position Summary:
The General Manager serves as the chief executive of the Maverik Center, providing strategic leadership, operational oversight, and financial management of the venue. This individual is responsible for ensuring excellence in event execution, facility maintenance, staff leadership, tenant relations, and overall business performance—aligned with the strategic objectives of West Valley City and Centennial Management. The General Manager will act as the primary liaison with corporate stakeholders, industry partners, media, regulatory agencies, and the community.

Key Responsibilities:
1.     Ensure all events are professionally planned, executed, and evaluated for continuous improvement.
2.     Build and maintain strong relationships with tenants, touring professionals, community partners, and the public to promote a positive image of the Maverik Center.
3.     Lead efforts to attract and secure events; negotiate contracts with promoters, agents, and stakeholders.
4.     Oversee day-to-day operations, coordinating plans, programs, and services; conduct post-event operational and financial reviews.
5.     Respond promptly and effectively to internal and external requests, maintaining the integrity and professionalism of the organization in all communications.
6.     Develop and manage annual operating and capital budgets, including forecasting for revenue, expenses, and staffing resources.
7.     Ensure the facility complies with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations; administer lease and use agreements in accordance with legal and operational standards.
8.     Perform other duties as assigned by the President and City Council.

Qualifications:
  • Proven leadership experience managing large-scale, multi-purpose entertainment or sports venues (minimum 5,000-seat capacity).
  • Deep knowledge of venue operations including event management, marketing, box office, maintenance, security, public relations, and customer service.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a multidisciplinary team while managing multiple stakeholder relationships.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience developing and overseeing large operating and capital budgets.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure and meet the demanding timelines of the live events industry.
  • Familiarity with municipal/governmental operations and public-private partnerships is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of senior management experience in venue operations or a related field.

Compensation:

Compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package includes a competitive salary, 401(k), health benefits, paid time off (PTO), and other executive-level benefits.
